The taste-pleasing event will take place Saturday, Oct. 11. Participating restaurants will donate a set amount or $1 per table served that day.

"This has been a very successful event for us each year. Last year we made almost $2000," said Kent France, United Way director.

The participating eateries are Bud's Corner Restaurant and the Harrington Inn in Brown City; Tracy's Breakfast Only, Champions and the Silver Tavern in Deckerville; A & W, Cadillac House, Lakeview Hills, Smackwater Jack's and Steis's Village Inn in Lexington; Beagio's and Eddie G's in Marlette; Mary's Diner and the Stone Lodge in Port Sanilac; and in Sandusky, China Lee, Big Boy, the D Q Grill & Chill and the Main Street CafŽ.

"A second way that our area restaurants help us is by donating gift certificates for our Restaurant Raffle," said Virgil Strickler, president of the United Way Board. "This year we took in $3110 to start our campaign. Our winners are Betty Bushey of Sandusky (12 certificates), Marci See of Croswell (6), Dianna Schafer of Sandusky (4), Nort Schramm of Sandusky (2) and fifth place to Neita Murray of Deckerville (1 certificate)."

The United Way Board asks citizens to frequent these restaurants throughout the year. They assist the United Way in helping those in need.
